Shilpa Shetty-Raj Kundra Accused For Cheating Businessman for Rs 60 Crore

A once-promising business venture has now erupted into a major controversy. Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and her husband, businessman Raj Kundra, are facing serious allegations of defrauding Mumbai-based businessman Deepak Kothari of over Rs 60 crore. The case, first registered at Juhu Police Station, has been shifted to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) due to the high-value amount involved.

Funds Misused Allegedly

The dispute traces back to a loan-cum-investment arrangement made between 2015 and 2023, involving their now-defunct company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd. According to Kothari, he transferred Rs 60.48 crore to help the company grow; however, he later claimed the money was allegedly diverted for the couple’s expenses instead of business purposes.

In 2016, Shilpa Shetty allegedly provided a personal guarantee for the deal but stepped down as a company director within months. The complaint accuses both Shilpa and Raj of orchestrating a well-planned conspiracy, and the investigation continues, and more details are expected soon.
