The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has approved India‘s plan to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games. Ahmedabad has been proposed as the host city, with the final bid due by 31 August 2025. With Canada stepping out of the race, India’s chances of hosting have improved. Officials from Commonwealth Sport recently visited Ahmedabad to inspect the venues and meet state authorities. The Commonwealth Sport General Assembly in Glasgow will announce the official host city later this year.
India Set for 2030 CWG
Darren Hall, head of Commonwealth Sport, recently visited Ahmedabad to inspect sports venues and meet Gujarat officials. A large team is expected later this month to assess the city’s preparations and plans. The official announcement of the 2030 Commonwealth Games host will be made at the Commonwealth Sport General Assembly in Glasgow in November 2025. India last hosted the Games in Delhi in 2010. Ahmedabad aims to provide top-quality facilities and a memorable experience for both athletes and visitors.
