Instagram just dropped some exciting updates, and they are exactly what users have been asking for! You can now ‘Repost’ public reels and feed posts directly to your followers’ feeds — no more sharing to just stories or DMs. Along with that, Instagram has added a ‘Friends’ tab in Reels to see what your buddies are watching and liking. There is also a cool new ‘live map’ that shows where your friends and favourite creators are posting from. These updates are all about making Instagram more fun, social, and easy to use.
Repost Feature
Instagram’s new Repost button allows users to share public reels and posts to their followers’ feeds. The reposted content appears just like a regular post, with credit given to the original creator. To repost, tap the Repost icon under the content, write an optional note, and publish. A Repost tab has also been added to your profile to show all the content you have reshared.
Friends Tab
Instagram has introduced a Friends tab in the Reels section. This shows users what reels their friends have liked, commented on, or shared. It offers a better way to explore content based on friends’ activities and helps users stay updated with what their close circle is enjoying on the app.
Live Map Feature
Instagram is testing a live map feature that shows where friends and creators are posting from in real time. The feature appears at the top of the direct message screen. It is currently being tested in the US, with more countries expected to get access soon. Privacy controls are included, allowing users to manage what is visible and shared.
