Ajay Devgn’s ‘Son of Sardaar 2‘ and ‘Dhadak 2‘, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, both hit theatres on 1 August. While critics gave both films mixed reviews, audiences seem to be favouring Devgn’s comedy-drama. The opening weekend numbers show Devgn’s comedy-drama pulling ahead in collections. Meanwhile, ‘Dhadak 2’, a spiritual sequel to the 2018 romantic drama, is struggling to keep up despite a fresh cast and strong pre-release buzz.
‘Son of Sardaar 2’ Ahead
‘Son of Sardaar 2’ collected Rs 7.5 crore on its first day and Rs 24.75 crore over its opening weekend. The film saw steady growth each day. Meanwhile, ‘Dhadak 2’ earned Rs 3.5 crore on Friday and closed the weekend with Rs 11.5 crore. It faced tough competition from Devgn’s comedy-drama, ‘Saiyaara‘, and other new releases. Despite high expectations, ‘Dhadak 2’ has not performed as strongly at the box office so far.
