The 71st National Film Awards were declared in New Delhi on August 1, 2025. Shah Rukh Khan and Vikrant Massey were jointly awarded for Best Actor. SRK won for his performance in ‘Jawan’, while Massey was recognized for his role in ’12th Fail’. It is the first National Film Award for both actors. Rani Mukerji was named Best Actress for her work in ‘Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway’. The Best Feature Film Award went to ’12th Fail’, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. A jury headed by filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker selected the winners and submitted the final list to Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and L. Murugan.

Sudipto Sen won Best Director for ‘The Kerala Story’, Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani’ was awarded Best Popular Film for Wholesome Entertainment, ‘Sam Bahadur’’s Chowdhury V. Kaushal was recognized for its national and social themes, and also won in technical categories. Regional films like ‘Parking’, ‘Bhagvanth Kesari’, ‘Shyamchi Aai’, and ‘Pushkara’ were honored as Best Films in their languages.
