The Indian government has banned over 20 OTT platforms, including ULLU, ALTT, and Desiflix, for hosting content deemed obscene, vulgar, and in some cases, pornographic. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting issued the order on July 23 after consultations with the MHA, MWCD, DoLA, FICCI, and CII. The decision was based on violations of the IT Act, IPC, and the Indecent Representation of Women Act. Content on these platforms reportedly lacked a storyline or social message and often involved sexually explicit scenes, even within family settings. ISPs have been directed to block access to these platforms in India.
