India

India and Pakistan’s diplomatic relationship has been strained ever since the Pahalgam attack and its aftermath, Operation Sindoor. During the conflict, several Pakistani artists’ social media handles and Pakistani YouTube channels were geoblocked in India. Accounts of popular artists like Hania Aamir, Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Atif Aslam and more were not visible in India. However, several internet users have claimed that the ban on Pakistani artists’ accounts is silently being lifted off as some accounts have started to show up on Instagram again.

Pakistani artists’ ban lifted

Accounts of actors like Mawra Hocane and Saba Qamar are now visible on Instagram in India. Social media users also claimed that YouTube channels of Hum TV, ARY Digital and Har Pal Geo are accessible too. However, Hania, Fawad, and Mahira’s accounts still remained blocked.

This comes on the heels of the ‘Sardarji 3’ controversy. The movie starring Diljit Dosanjh skipped Indian release as it starred Hania Aamir. The Punjabi singer is receiving intense backlash and calls for a ban in the country, and has been accused of supporting Pakistan.
