The Election Commission has now announced the results of the bypoll election in four assemblies across states like Punjab, Gujarat, Kerala, and West Bengal. The election took place on June 19, and the Nilambur seat in Kerala saw a voter turnout of 73.26 per cent. Bypolls usually involve only one or a few constituencies, unlike general elections that happen across an entire state or country. Though smaller in scale, they are often seen as a mini referendum on the ruling government’s popularity and can indicate shifts in public sentiment.
