The Men’s Asia Cup 2025, scheduled for September, is now uncertain. Reports claim that India has withdrawn from the tournament. The BCCI has reportedly informed the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) about the decision. The ACC is currently headed by Pakistan’s Minister Mohsin Naqvi. India has also pulled out of the Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, which was set for June.
No India in Asia Cup 2025?
According to The Indian Express, this decision follows rising tensions between India and Pakistan. Last month, India launched Operation Sindoor after a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir killed 26 civilians. The operation targeted terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. A BCCI source said, “We can’t play in a tournament run by a Pakistan minister. That’s the nation’s sentiment.” India was set to host this year’s Asia Cup in the T20 format. However, with Indian sponsors pulling their support, organizers may now cancel the tournament.
