In a major setback for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, star batter Devdutt Padikkal has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2025. He has been ruled out due to a right hamstring injury. The in-form opener has been replaced by experienced batter Mayank Agarwal, who joins the RCB squad for Rs 1 crore.

Padikkal has been a key performer for RCB this season, scoring 247 runs, including two half-centuries. His consistent knocks have played a big role in RCB’s strong run, with the team currently placed second on the table with 14 points from 11 games. He also earned high praise from Virat Kohli for his match-winning performances.

Mayank Agarwal, former Punjab Kings captain, played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last two seasons. He featured in four matches in IPL 2024, scoring 64 runs. His best season came in 2021, with 441 runs in 12 innings. RCB next faces Lucknow Super Giants on May 9.
