The Pakistan Broadcasters Association has announced a ban on airing Indian songs. The ban spans across all FM radio stations in the country. The decision was made on Thursday, May 1, in the wake of the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The incident occurred on Tuesday, April 22, and claimed the lives of 26 tourists.
PBA Secretary General’s Statement
“The Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) has stopped airing Indian songs on Pakistani FM radio stations across the country with immediate effect,” PBA Secretary General Shakeel Masood said.
Ban on Indians Songs
Songs banned are particularly classics by legendary artists such as Lata Mangeshkar, Mohammed Rafi, Kishore Kumar, and Mukesh. They have long enjoyed widespread popularity in Pakistan and are a staple on the country’s FM radio stations.
