A Mohali court has sentenced self-styled preacher Pastor Bajinder Singh to life imprisonment for a 2018 rape case. Singh, popularly known as the “Yeshu Yeshu prophet,” was found guilty under Sections 376 (rape), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. The case was registered after a woman filed a complaint at the Zirakpur police station. The victim alleged that Singh lured her with false promises of taking her abroad. He then raped her at his Mohali residence and blackmailed her with explicit videos. Five other accused in the case were acquitted.

In addition to this conviction, Singh faces other legal troubles. Earlier this month, he was booked for assault after a video showed him slapping a woman. A separate sexual harassment case was also filed against him on February 28. Despite his controversies, Singh maintains a large following, with millions of subscribers on his YouTube channel and churches in India and abroad.
