Veteran actor and filmmaker Deb Mukherjee, father of director Ayan Mukerji, passed away on Friday morning. Mukherjee was 83 and passed away after a prolonged illness.
The Statement
An official statement from the late actor’s representative read, “We are deeply saddened to inform you of the passing of Mr Debu Mukherjee, an actor and driving force of the North Bombay Durga Puja. He left us this morning.”

Deb Mukherjee was a beloved figure in Bollywood, Mukherjee was also a driving force behind the North Bombay Durga Puja celebrations. His last rites were performed at Pawan Hans Crematorium in Juhu.
