Holi is a joyful event, but the bright colours can be difficult to remove from your skin, hair, and clothes. Here are some helpful ways for removing those unpleasant stains after the celebration:
For Skin:
- Pre-apply Oil or Lotion: Before heading out to play Holi, apply a thick layer of coconut oil, olive oil, or petroleum jelly on your skin. This forms a protective barrier, making it easier to wash off the colors afterward.
- Soap and Scrub: If the color gets on your skin, use a mild soap with lukewarm water. Gently scrub using a soft cloth or exfoliating scrub to remove stubborn stains without irritating your skin.
- Baking Soda & Lemon: For stubborn stains, mix a small amount of baking soda with lemon juice. Gently rub it on the stained area and rinse off after a few minutes. Baking soda helps exfoliate, while lemon helps to lighten the stain.
- Aloe Vera Gel: Aloe vera is soothing for the skin and can also help remove color. Apply fresh aloe vera gel, leave it for 10-15 minutes, and then rinse.
For Hair:
- Coconut Oil: Apply coconut oil on your hair before playing Holi to prevent colors from sticking. Afterward, wash your hair with a mild shampoo and conditioner to remove the stains.
- Vinegar and Water: Mix vinegar with water (1:2 ratio) and rinse your hair with it. This can help remove color from your scalp and hair.
- Deep Conditioning: After washing, apply a deep conditioning mask to hydrate and nourish your hair, as the colors can dry it out.
For Clothes:
- Rinse Immediately: The sooner you rinse the colors off your clothes, the easier it is to remove them. Use cold water to wash the clothes, as hot water can set the stain.
- Vinegar & Baking Soda: Soak clothes in a mixture of vinegar and water (1:1 ratio) for 30 minutes, then wash with detergent. You can also use a paste of baking soda and water to scrub stubborn stains.
With these tips, you can enjoy Holi without worrying about stubborn colour stains lingering afterward!
