In September 2022, Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan discovered that the conversion fee for their property Mannat was calculated incorrectly. Authorities had mistakenly used the value of the bungalow itself, instead of the land, to determine the fee, leading to an overpayment of about Rs 9 crore.
Upon realizing the mistake, Gauri Khan formally requested a refund from the collector of the Mumbai Suburban District (MSD). The collector has since forwarded the request to the state government for final approval.
Maharashtra state officials have confirmed that once the refund is approved, the Khans will receive the excess amount, expected to be Rs 9 crore. The refund process is now in its final stages, awaiting official government clearance.
