The recently released teasers of ‘Deva’ and ‘Sky Force’ have set the stage for some serious cinematic showdowns. However, the stark differences between the two trailers leave fans with mixed emotions about their upcoming releases.

‘Deva’

In ‘Deva’, Shahid Kapoor emerges with a fierce intensity, taking on the titular role of a character caught in high-octane action. His electrifying dance moves steals the show. Shahid’s portrayal of a cop fighting against the odds and Amitabh Bachchan’s iconic ‘Angry Young Man’ poster in the background will remind of his persona from the 1970s.

‘Sky Force’

‘Sky Force’ starring Akshay Kumar, Veer Pahariya, Sara Ali Khan and Nimrat Kaur is set in the world of the Indian Air Force. The film promises intense aerial action, sharp military combat, and a gripping storyline. However, the similarities with ‘Fighter’—the 2023 Hrithik Roshan-Deepika Padukone starrer—are hard to ignore. From the airstrike plotline to the military backdrop, ‘Sky Force’ seems to echo themes of patriotism, personal loss, and combat-heavy narratives that we have seen before. A subplot in the trailer shows Veer Pahariya’s character going “missing in action” similar to how Karan Singh Grover’s character disappears in ‘Fighter’, further raising comparisons. Now, if Akshay Kumar wonders why his films have failed to generate buzz at the box office, then the answer lies in the scripts.
