150 Years of Vande Mataram—How Government Will Celebrate Tomorrow

The Government of India is all set to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the national song Vande Mataram, beginning November 7, 2025, and continuing until November 7, 2026. The initiative, approved by the Union Cabinet, highlights the historic, cultural, and patriotic significance of the song penned by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee. First published in Bangadarshan, Vande Mataram became a symbol of India’s freedom struggle, inspiring unity, devotion, and national pride.

Vande Mataram Celebrations Planned

The celebration will unfold in four phases:

  • November 7–14, 2025
  • January 19–26, 2026
  • August 7–15, 2026
  • November 1–7, 2026

Nationwide mass singing events, cultural programmes, exhibitions, and performances by CAPF and State Police bands are planned throughout. The BJP will host events at 150 key locations, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi attending the programme at the Indira Gandhi Stadium. This year-long commemoration honours Chatterjee’s legacy while promoting patriotism, unity, and love for the Motherland across India.
